Update: PS3/ Facebook Rumor Confirmed & New Update to Xbox Live Released
Last week I reported on a rumor about social networking giant, Facebook, making it's way onto the PS3. And well, it looks like it was true after all ... go figure. I'm still curious as to why the PS3 is always last to get every single "new" feature they offer. I mean the Xbox pretty much locks up everything that is remotely interesting, and goes ahead and does it first, making the PS-Triple just look like a copy cat - but then again the Six-Axis showed us that how really Sony has no shame in taking away from other consoles.
Xbox 360 gets Twitter/Facebook/Last.fm, plus more
The Xbox dashboard, or channels, just got a couple new addition early this morning. As tweeted by Major Nelson about an hour ago, the new features to Xbox Live have been officially released and are ready for use. Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, and the Zune Marketplace take center stage in this year's fall update. No download is required for the update so long as you have the latest system update installed, which you should have done about three weeks ago.
I've been part of the preview program for these features for the past month, and out of all of them I enjoy the Zune marketplace the best, and Last.fm. As for Twitter and Facebook, I really have no idea who will be using those "apps". But if you do then leave us a comment telling us why. Because I'd love to know.
