Blazblue: Continuum Shift Dated

July 1st, 2010 has just been announced as the Japanese release date for the console port of Blazblue: Continuum Shift. Not to be outdone by Super Street Fighter 4, Arc is not just adding new outfits to its  fan favorite fighter, but a whole slew of changes including new characters and moves:

  • 4 New characters: Tsubaki Yayoi, Hazama,  μ-12 (replacing v-13), and λ-11 (Lambda eleven)
  • Moves will be removed, added, and replaced for all the characters
  • Balance issues will be resolved to make a more well rounded gameplay experience
  • Aesthetic changes done to the artwork of the characters and game interface
  • Health bars now change from green to red relating to how much of it you have left
  • Burst mechanic has been altered to include 2 bursts per match, with the option to store them
  • New voice work done for characters and announcer
  •

Expect a NA release date coming soon. On a side note, I think our own Kristen will be happy to know that Michael Jackson (pictured in the image above as Hazama) has made the cut into the final game. You been hit by a smooth criminal...

Google Android - A Brief History

Whether you like it or not, Android is currently the hottest mobile operating system available. Originally announced on November 5th 2007 Google’s Android led to the establishment of the Open Handset Alliance, a confederacy of 47 -- hardware, software and telecommunication vendors, publicising open standards for mobile devices.  Filing Android under the Apache Licensing Service led to the implementation, integration and development of proprietary software as well as open-source software allocation. As of February 16th 2010 Google proudly announced that approximately 60,000 android-based handsets were shipping daily.

Why Yahoo and AOL must die - and they will

What are search engines? They are meant for search, right? We're supposed to type into a little box, hit enter and see a list of search results. Then why do AOL and Yahoo seem to be fantasizing about being the next TMZ and Radar Online and totally ignoring the fact that everyone else still considers them to be a search engine.

Sure, your rockin' Mom and Niece love Yahoo, because they have "free email" and "news" but where do they go to do their searches? Google. Yes, they do! And guess what, many of them type "Google" into the address bar in their browser and click on the first link in the Google search results for "Google". Here's why Yahoo and AOL need to die, and how they definitely will...

    Xbox 360 & PC Review: Bioshock 2

Andrew Ryan is dead, but Rapture is far from drowning; The original Bioshock was not only a game but an experience that no one saw coming. Who knew such a setting and story could be created in a way that a video game could be as captivating as a feature film? The city of Rapture is nothing short of genius and the game that it was featured in won multiple game of the year awards. So when word of a sequel leaked out, there were some, whom to say the least, were a little skeptical - I being one of them. But now that the second part in the Bioshock story has been told I’m not as skeptical anymore because now I find myself asking, “why was a second game even necessary?”

Apple increases AT&T iPhone Download limit

Yesterday Apple announced that they'd be augmenting the download limit available over an AT&T 3G connection. It was enthusiastically upgraded for something… well, slightly better. The increase only allows consumers an extra 10MB, but I suppose that 20MB is better than the previous 10. In hindsight you'll now be able to download smaller podcasts, applications and perhaps future iBooks on the fly.

So why would Apple decide to make this change now? In theory there are two possible reasons. It could indicate that AT&T has reached a benchmark and decided to upgrade their network incrementally, however this is unlikely. The second theory appears to be much more plausible; Apple chose to increase the download limit available, to allow for full use of 3G in the upcoming iPad. Supporting this theory is Spanner Spencer of Pocket Gamer UK, he stated:

Double the available app size for remote users should therefore make for some doubly impressive products. In all likelyhood this is in preparation for the inherently larger size of iPad games and apps.

Our Future will be a Real Life RPG

This video just changed the way I look at technology and the future of technology forever. Carnegie Mellon professor and ex-imagineer, Jesse Schell, lays out a vision of the future in which our lives become, essentially, one big RPG. We have all seen technology grow rapidly over the past century and it's not stopping anytime. Professor Schell explains what the future will be like, which I can honestly see it already happening as he says it is.

Everything in the world is full of psychological tricks that almost none of us notice; the world is constantly being filled with "achievements", like Xbox Live and other online games. I don't want to give away too much that the video explains much better, but the future will be a complete takeover of technology and advertisement that none of us will really notice. Imagine walking a mile or drinking a coke and receiving an achievement in life that everyone can see. Watch the video to see how life could and probably will be like in the future - I promise it will blow your mind.
