iFixit Tears Down DROID 2

Man, we would just love to know how iFixit gets their hands on new gadgets so fast! This time the brand-new DROID 2 is the victim of their careful surgical methods. They discover that the main power of the device is a Texas Instruments OMAP 1GHz processor with a dedicated GPU. After comparing the DROID 2 to the original DROID, they find that the new phone has a dark blue finish with slight modifications to the case. Lastly, they compare it with the iPhone 4’s slim form and blow it into 24 separate parts

$99 iTV with Apps Coming in Fall

The Apple TV is one of the company’s least popular and successful products. Having great potential, the product hasn’t be revamped for quite some time aside from some interface lifts along the way. Now we’re hearing some rumblings about a $99 replacement dubbed the iTV. It will share the iPhone 4’s processor (the A4) and similar storage sizes (16 GB) when it launches this fall. The new set-top box will run iOS apps but won’t support 1080p content. In its place will be the slightly lower-res HD standard, 720p. Previous rumors add that it will be about the same size and have similar appearances as the iPhone 4, which causes suspicion that these two devices might somehow work together though an app or hardware accessory. My fingers are crossed for an exciting announcement and another one of Apple’s revolutionary products. Expect to hear more about this at Apple’s September event…

Video - The story of a human life in 8-bit, "Consoul"

If you have a heart, this short film will squeeze it. This is the moving journey through a human’s life, told through 8-bit graphics, and excellent music.

Lasse Gjertsen was the person behind this short film about life and death. The 8-bit effect was designed in Photoshop then animated in After Effects for maximum control for the designer.

Apple Releases iOS 4.0.2 (iPhone), 3.2.2 (iPad) - Kills Jailbreakme.com

It sucks for those of us who jailbreak our iDevices when Apple releases a new update but we knew Jailbreakme was too good to last for long. By disabling the PDF exploit used by Jailbreakme, Apple has caused many users pain. With the simple jailbreak method no longer in effect, I trust the Dev Team is scratching their heads and working hard to produce a new unlocking phenomenon for the general public.

Knock-off iPad and horrible Apple website clone will make you die a little inside

This is just cute. A very small company called Axon Logic is designing a p.o.s. tablet which they plan to release sometime in the future. The hunk of plastic is called the “Axon Haptic”, which is weird because there is no haptic feedback in the device at all. It also features a 1.6Ghz Atom processor, resistive 10” touchscreen with stylus, 2Gigs of RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, 1.3MP webcam, 3 USB ports and an ethernet port. Also there’s bluetooth and VGA ports for further connectivity — it has an un-fit price tag of $750.
