Nintendo reports first year in red since 1981, loses over a billion dollars in 2011

Mario is dressed in red, but it’s not the kinda color Nintendo was hoping to see in their year-end annual fiscal report. So where did everything go wrong? Well, back before the 3DS was released, Satora Iwata and the folks who have been in charge of keeping your nostalgia on a consistent high, thought that pricing the 3D handheld at $250 was a bargain of a deal. Umm, yeah… that didn’t turn out so hot as we recall. So where does Nintendo go from here? — More after the break!

Here's exactly what the Protect IP Bill is all about and why you should care -- (Video)

Piracy has always been a growing threat since the inception of the internet. But rather than try to fight it logistically, private groups have pushed bills through the US government to otherwise censor the internet all for the sake of making a few dollars. Protect IP is another one of these attempts. Here’s what will happen if the bill is passed.

Jane McGonigal talks about the real world solutions brought about by gaming - (Video)

It’s an interesting take on studies based on playing video games, but Jane McGonigal — who also wrote the industry favorite Reality is Broken: Why Game Make us Better and How They Can Change the World — has got the research, and the moxy, to explain how prolonged experiences with video games are beneficial for the survival and progession of the human race.

PBS looks to cash in on never before seen Steve Jobs interview - 'One Last Thing'

I wrote the subject before thinking about it — I mean, isn’t PBS a non-profit? So I guess they wouldn’t be making any money off viewership of this historic interview, which may or may not be just some random quotes by Jobs on life - but hey… it’d give you a reason to actually donate some funds to the channel “supported by viweres like you”. — More after the break!
