Watch The Hobbit "Making Of" video blog with Peter Jackson, in case you've missed it

Lord of the Rings is something every geek far and wide holds close to them, and when the books written by J. R. R. Tolkien were brought to the big screen, the journey finally felt complete… almost like a chapter in history was finished. To much excitement, Peter Jackson has taken on the project of bringing The Hobbit to life, telling the story before the Fellowship set out into Middle Earth towards the Black Gates of Mordor. Even more awesome, Peter Jackson has decided to start a video blog to document the making of The Hobbit as it happens — Videos below (almost 50 minutes of behind the scenes footage.)

Siri on iPhone 4s vs TellMe on Windows Phone -Video

When Siri arrived on the iPhone, the world sort of stood still for a bit, wondering if it would actually perform as advertised. I mean, the service that Apple bought (Siri) was pretty breathtaking to begin with, and on the iPhone it’s even better. TellMe is Windows Phone’s version of Siri, which was available way before Apple even announced Siri — you think Microsoft would have used that time to make it work properly.

"The Kinect Effect" - Microsoft was dumb to deny developers in the first place - Video

When the Kinect was released to the public it immediatly sparked ideas for better applications than just video games, but Microsoft did everything they could to “crack down” on 3rd party developers messing with Kinect. Developers hacked it anyways and essentially forced Microsoft to take the modding community seriously, because what they were creating was all incredible. Microsoft may not have the forward thinking required to see when something has potential, but they sure as hell know how to get us excited!

How massive Call of Duty actually is - Infographic

There are many juggernauts in the gaming world, but no franchise has been so consistantly successful and genre dominating as Call of Duty. It all started when the World War II shooter Call of Duty hit shelves on October 29, 2003, jolting the FPS genre and recieving rave reviews and mounds of awards. It was a foot in the doorway of what would soon be one of the most popular game franchises in history — here’s a great infographic that breaks it down the history of Call of Duty’s success.

Dad of the year builds his son a Portal inspired bedroom -- (Video)

You wish your parents were this cool. No, seriously — you really do, just admit it. I mean, how can you not be jealous of this kid whose entire room was decked out from top to bottom with Portal inspired furniture, complete with Companion Cube’s to solve the room’s puzzle. Oh, and don’t forget the security camera’s that represent GlaDOS’ every watchful eye.

Okay Geek's Black Friday Guide 2011

By now you’ve probably already got a map drawn up with a war strategy on how to flank the competing crowds of people also seeking the best deals on tech and games. And while we did get a late start here at Okay Geek compared to year’s past, we decided to go in a different direction in how we composed 2011’s black friday guide. Instead of doing a full, comprehensive list of everything you’ll find at every store, we decided to pick our top 3 best deals from each of the major tech categories sought for during this annual ritual; i.e. tv’s, laptops, hard drives. We went this route because it’s all about getting the stuff you really need and where to get it, right? — More after the break!
