Ever since its introduction in 1973 as the worlds first “practical” handset, the cellphone has taken the world by storm and has now become a necessity if you want to live the day to day life of the average Joe. Skip forward 37 years and the chart below finally makes sense — this is how the world uses their mobile phones.

The FCC seems to want a capped, two-tiered Internet

So many times we have been worried to death about the internet becoming closed and capped, but every time, the idea never got to product (thankfully). There have been moments where the internet becoming “tiered” has almost happened, and we are all dreading the day this movement finally pushes through, and a closed and tiered internet becomes a reality. Today we have reached a dreadful milestone where the FCC now wants the exact thing we dread every day as geeks.
