Integral UltimaPro SDHC Class 10 32GB memory card review

SD cards are among a phorographer’s most important tools. No matter how many megapixels a camera has or what lens it uses, the speed and capacity of the camera’s memory card are crucial to getting the shots and the amount of shots required. Today we take a look at Integral’s UltimaPro SDHC Class 10 to see if it can perform as the sole memory card in our shooter. Read on for our full review!

    Features

    • Fast class 10 memory card
    • Supplied with a memory card case
    • Ideal for high megapixel cameras and 1080P video
    • 5 year warranty

    Our Impressions

The Integral UltimaPro SDHC Class 10 SD card comes in a cardboard blister pack along with a compact carrying case. Physically, the Integral UltimaPro is like any SD card you’ve ever come across. So let’s get to the part you care about - speeds.

    Shooting Speeds

When you’re taking high resolution photos in burst mode or high definition video at 60 fps, the speed and capacity of your SD card are of paramount importance. We definitely felt a little speed boost when shooting with our Panasonic Lumix LX5. Perhaps This obiouvsly isn’t the most scientific way to test flash memory so we fired up one of our favorite software benchmarking tools.

    Software Benchmark

The UltimaPro we received was marked Class 10. That means theoretically it should achieve 20MB/s transfer speeds, or so the packaging says. We did some real world testing with some TV episodes and got about 15 MB/s consistently.

Then we busted out CrystalDiskMark to get some scientific figures.

The results seem to be mostly in line with our sample file copying when using 1000 MB files.

    Overall

At the end of the day, memory cards are all about the speed and capacity they offer. Integral’s UltimaPro Class 10 card boasts up to 32GB of storage and has speeds of around 15.6 MB/s read and 10.9 MB/s write. It doesn’t quite live up to the 20 MB/s rating on the label but it’s quick enough for most general shooting purposes.

    Pro’s

    • Fast
    • Decent capacity

    Con’s

    • Does not actually reach 20 MB/s
