iPhone 4G - Specs - Plus: Release Date July 17 2009

iPhones rumors are nevertheless hyped as any celebrity scandals. And the latest to hit the rumor mills is of a new iPhone ‘ready to go on sale’ as early as July 17, 2009. Now, you call that another rumor that would soon bite the dust or the tight-lipped policy of Apple Inc. to leak, yet step back from spilling the beans altogether.

The seeds of this rumor might be linked to the fact that Apple Inc. might like to follow its tradition of releasing a new iPhone version mid-summer every year. The tongues went wagging and the news spread like wildfire, when rumors spilled from a post in AppleiPhoneApps.com revealing a possible third generation iPhone release.

The post even cited a possible date - Friday, July 17, 2009, quoting ‘inside sources’ from Apple development team. The website has also quoted that the present price tags of $199 and $299 will remain.

New iPhone Specifications - What to expect

  • There are also reports of a few changes in the external look of the new iPhone. Apart from reports of the metal band around the edge of the device ‘gone missing’, the new device is believed to have a comparatively sleeker design with a rubber-tread backing.
  • Moreover, the rear of the phone will also sport a glowing Apple logo.
  • The new iPhone is stated to offer 32GB storage capacity.
  • Although there is no confirmation yet on the price, rumors are rife that the 16GB and 32GB storage is priced at $199 and $299 respectively.
  • The short battery life in the current iPhone version is believed to be one of the bigger flaws in this highly popular device. The battery life of the new iPhone is believed to be 1.5 times greater than the original Palm Pre
  • Apart from doubling of the RAM to 256MB, the processor speed is also expected to be twice as fast from the current 412MHz clock speed to 600MHz. iPhone enthusiasts are hopeful about the inclusion of background processing too.
  • Possible inclusion of 3.2-megapixel camera, for taking clear pictures; along with functions like video-recording and editing.
  • The new iPhone with iPhone 3.0 software update will most likely allow iPhone users send pictures and videos via MMS.
  • Built-in FM transmitter is probably one of the most anticipated features to look forward in the new iPhone. Another expected feature is the OLED screen.
  • • Another enviable feature in the new iPhone is said to be that of a built-in compass and the GPS, camera, compass and Google map combined will functions like ‘identify photo’ and ‘inform about photo locations’.
  • • The new device allowing turn-by-turn directions is another feature iPhone users are looking up to.

Confirmation expected... All eyes are now set on Monday, June 8, 2009 for further details on the new iPhone when Apple Inc. Vice President Phil Schiller will give out a keynote address at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WDC) in San Francisco.

While another theory doing the rounds related to the release of the new iPhone is in anticipation of Apple’s affinity to schedule significant releases in the magic month of July. And analysts are hopeful that a formal announcement is on the cards following the return of CEO Steve Jobs to Apple Inc. Industry analysts are optimistic that release of the new iPhone would drive demand as it has on other release of the earlier versions.

Although, IPhone sales represent about 11% of Apple's last quarterly revenue, and the Q1 report for the current shows a 123% rise in sales, the new iPhone is expected to steer the smartphone giant clear out of recession blues. And the results are already showing on the Apple Inc. shares, which have risen 43% until now this year, somewhat in anticipation of Apple releasing a new iPhone sometime this year.

iPhone 3.0 OS Demo Video

List of Features

The features include:

Copy & Paste text. When you double-tap over text, you will get a “cut, copy, and paste” bubble dialog. Double-tap again and a “paste” bubble will appear if there’s anything stored in your clipboard. This works across applications. You can expand your selection points using your thumbs and, if you accidentally paste something you didn’t want to paste, just shake your iPhone to undo it.

• Copy & Paste photos. You can also copy and paste photos. Now you will be able to select multiple photos by tapping the action button, copy some of them, and paste them in an email, ready to send.

• New Spotlight. iPhone OS 3.0 will allow you to search across the entire information contained in your device, no matter where, as soon as the information is supported it. If an application is written to support the new Spotlight, its data will also be available in the search.

• Search in Mail, Calendar, and iPod. These Apple applications have specific search interfaces. The search in Mail doesn’t support the message content yet, but it supports searching in IMAP servers—that will save a lot of time logging into Gmail.

• 3G Tethering. This feature will allow you to connect your iPhone 3G to a laptop, to use it as a modem to access the internet. Carriers still have to sign-off on it, and probably charge more for it. None have announced it yet.

• Landscape keyboard. Apple has added the landscape keyboard mode to other applications, like Mail, SMS, and Notes.

• Multimedia messaging. A big one to send rich content to people without mail-enabled telephones: The new MMS function will allow you to include everything, from images to sound to vcards (no word on video, however.) Personally, I find these usesless having email, but some people seem to want it.

• Support for new calendar types. In iPhone OS 3.0 you will be able to subscribe to calendars on the web using two protocols: CalDAV—supported by Google and Yahoo—and subscriptions via the .ics format—which is what Apple uses in iCal.

• Improved stocks application. The stocks application now allows you to read related news, so you can enjoy yourself learning about the latest market scandals, stock crashes, and executives getting bonus packages from government aid while their companies sink into hell. Thank you, Apple.

• Stereo Bluetooth A2DP audio. You will be able to pair your iPhone 3.0 with a stereo Bluetooth A2DP device, like headphones or speakers.

• Note syncing with iTunes.

• Automatic login in Safari. The new version of Safari will remember login credentials, so you won’t need to introduce your username and password again while accessing Scoreland your work intranet.

• Shake to shuffle music. If you are in your iPod application, you just need to shake it to start the shuffling mode. Hopefully this will be optional for sports people out there.

• Wi-Fi auto-login. In case you have a subscription to a paid hotspot, your iPhone or iPod touch will autolog into it.

• Anti-phishing. Mobile Safari now can warn you against malicious sites trying to scam you.

• Extended parental controls. Adult content filters can now be applied to movies, TV shows, and applications, in addition to web sites and music (porn apps, here we come).

• Peer-to-peer Bluetooth connectivity. A new API will allow for two iPhones to connect directly—peer-to-peer—via Bluetooth.

• Browse remote content. While the built-in iPod application doesn’t allow you to browse songs in other people’s iPhones or iPod touch, third-party applications will allow you to do that, according to Apple’s Forstall.

• Use your iPhone/touch to control peripherals. A new API will let you use your iPhone or iPod touch as a control to your accessories. In this example, the iPhone is being used to equalize the sound in a loudspeaker.

Pricing

iPhone OS 3.0 will be a free upgrade to all iPhone users, including the first generation (not all features will be supported in the first generation, like Stereo Bluetooth support). iPod touch users will be able to but it for $US9.95.

You can download the 3.0 Beta (if you dare) at the bottom. Note, once you upgrade you can not downgrade to an earlier OS you can only upgrade to newer betas and to the final release.

Logitech ClearChat™ "Stereo" and "Styles" Problem - Quiet/Dead Mic - How to fix

Hey brandoon111 here with another problem that needs fixing...

Ok, so time after time (like most of us) my friend complains about the quality of my mic (webcam) and not wanting to lug my studio condencer mic/stand in and out all the time, I decided to buy a Logitech ClearChat™ Headset for $37.87 (with tax(on sale)) after work.

When I got home I was full of jollidy and exited to open up the seemingly impossible to open packadge and plug this sucker in. I was supprized to find that there was no sound coming from my mic. Note: I am not computer illiterate. So I decided to check that my soundcard drivers were installed (having this week uninstalled Windows 7 beta and installed Windows 7 RC Because of the expiration period).

So, I descovered that yes, Windows 7 had installed everything for me. I decided to give up, then i had a tickle in my throught, coughed and heard it faintly in the mic (having previusly checked "listen to device" to see if it was working) and it was a bad mic.

At that moment I was looking at the logitech website, unhappy to find everyone else was having the same problem. So today I ventured off (again) after work and decided to exchange it for yet another  headset, and yes, ANOTHER logitech head set.

To make a long story short, read paragraph 3 (grey writing) again. After that I was a bit mad but I noticed that the mic was a bit louder this time but not very clear. So here i will recomend instead of getting the logitech ClearChat™ Styles, Try the ClearChat™ Stereo.

The Fix

In Vista/7

1. Click on "Start -Control Panel -Hardware and Sound -(Under sound) Manage Audio Devices" 2. Select Recording 3. Select Microphone 4. Select Custom 5. Check "Mic Boost" 6. Hit "apply" 7. Go to Listen 8. Check "Listen to device" 9. Go to Levels 10. When you are done ajusting, uncheck "listen to device" and hit Apply

XP

Step 1: From the Start Menu, scroll to Control Panel and choose the Sound and Audio Devicessetting.

image 1

Step 2: Under the Volume tab, click theAdvanced button under the Device Volumesection.

Step 3: If you do not see the Advanced button under the Play Control section, as seen below,

image 2

click the Options menu and choose Advanced Options. The Advanced button will now be visible, as seen below.

image 3

Step 4: Click the Options menu again and chooseProperties.

Step 5: Under the Adjust Volume For section, choose Recording and click OK.

image 4

Step 6: Under Microphone, click the Advancedbutton.

image 5

Step 7: Under the Other Controls section, place a check in the box next to the Microphone +20 dB Boost option, then click the Close button.

You have now successfully boosted your microphone! Now that the boost is enabled, it is important to lower the Microphone Volume Slider, as seen on the Recording Control page in step 6. Excessive volume will distort your microphone quality.
