HP Hurricane WebOS tablet rumored for Q3

It has been about a week since the whole “HP buys Palm” ordeal - and even though that was exciting enough, HP and Palm have put together a little think tank and come up with the very predictable idea of bringing a WebOS based tablet to the public by Q3 this year.

HP confessed it would be “doubling down on WebOS” and that it has big plans to “scale across multiple connected devices” and according to a report over at the Examiner, a tipster who is an “insider at HP” has told the site that “a webOS tablet under the code name HP Hurricane could be released the third quarter of this year.”

The whole Palm/HP collaberation is starting to make sense now, for a number of reasons: HP putting the Slate out of existence, and pegging to take WebOS places it has never been. The HP Slate may be dead, but I feel there is going to be a resurrection under the new name Hurricane, but this is all still rumors floating in the delicate balance of pure possibility. We would be shocked to see HP turn down a WebOS tablet, but we would be even more shocked if you don’t think this is going to be completely awesome!

ShinyTweet for iPad Fills a Major Void

Sure I love Twitteriffic, Tweetdeck and so on and so forth, but they still feel like they are designed for the iPhone. Sure everything is “bigger” but why waste all the space, I mean c’mon people!

Oh, hello ShinyTweet, bringing along your “I will never forget where I was” interface. So many times I have clicked a link in a Tweet, then clicked another link, then another, then back again then forward and then I think, where the hell am I? This solves that - Download

Sonic 4 "leaked" gameplay video - Super Sonic included

Sonic 4 "leaked" gameplay video - Super Sonic included

We’ve seen some gameplay before but nothing as thorough as this; Mad Gear Zone Act 2’s entire stage from beginning to end, showing us all the mechanics of the game, including Sonic’s full movement animations, physics, and stage obstacles.

I do like the direction Sega primarily took with the game but it all looks half baked. I mean, what’s with Sonic’s walk animation? It just looks like something’s off. And the camera - it doesn’t feel reminescent of the old Sonic game of the past at all.

All in all I’m glad we’ve gotten to see the game before its full release; giving us a big peak into what exactly we’d be paying for if we were going in blind. As for me, I’ll definitely pick it up just to see if these questionable changes to Sonic translate into bad gameplay.

The Inbox you have been Dreaming of

I get like a bazillion emails every day - and if just one of them could be the ASPCA thanking me for saving 3000 puppies, or even the remote possibility of past relationships with Megan Fox, I would be clicking F5 faster than when I play bubble-wrap on my iPod touch.

This is quite possibly the epitome of the perfect inbox. No meetings to schedule, no deadlines to follow, just billion dollar movies to create and Nobel Peace Prizes to pick up on the way to meet Steve Jobs for lunch.

…while I am watching the team sign my new Guinness World Record certificate, watching Steve glance at it, and give a nod of approval/high five.

We can dream can’t we? Will this ever happen? Nope, just checked my inbox. Nothing but errands to do, Viagra spam and chain emails from Grandpa.

HTC EVO 4G brushes past the FCC, passes with flying colours

As most would be aware, for a mobile handset to be deemed “acceptable” it must first under-go several tests at the FCC. And while FCC approvals are boring and well, simply bland, the latest approval managed to catch our eye. Throughout the filing for HTC model PC36100; we couldn’t help but notice that it runs WiMAX on Sprint’s (and Clearwire’s) 2500MHz network along with the usual encompassing CDMA bands with EV-DO. If you’re not already aware of what we’re talking about, then let us put your mind to rest; what we’ve got here is the EVO 4G for Sprint. Besides the actual FCC filings there aren’t any external photos currently available, but at least they’ve managed to join the “approved” pile of FCC tested devices. Now all that’s left to do is release the device… right?

A couple of days ago, Sprint seemed adamant that they’d be releasing Android 2.1 updates for the aging Android phones of yesteryear (HTC Hero and Samsung Moment), but according to a company admin, things aren’t ready to roll just yet. According to the official Sprint statement the long awaited Android 2.1 update is currently on track and will “be available in Q2.” Sprint’s official statement after the break.
