Comcast Brings On-Demand Cable Wherever you Go

Do you have Comcast TV and Internet? You're going to need both if you're going to take advantage of their new service, TV Fancast XFinity; a possible ground breaking step in streaming Internet-TV. So what is it you ask?  Ever been on the road on business or vacation and realized you missed something on TV? Well, now all you got to do is take out your laptop, connect to a WiFi hotspot and get set to enjoy 27 streaming, on demand channels - all ready for you to pick and choose which series and episodes you want to watch. Oh, and did I forget to mention that if you subscribe to HBO you also get access to big titled movies on the go too.

It's a nice concept, but can it take on Hulu, who provides free quality content on the go? I can see where this is going, though. These are just the initial steps cable companies will begin to take as they observe their viewers move from tv's to their computer screens. And with talks of Hulu soon becoming a paid service, ideas like this are starting to sound more realistic than they did back in the past. As a user I'm seeing the wheels beginning to move back in favor of subscriptions, instead of the current free, ad-revenue model.

With the beginning of a new decade soon upon us, we're seeing the testing stages of what will eventually become the mainstays that will provide us entertainment in the future. It's interesting to see so many players shifting from one idea to the next, realizing that yesterday's great concept has yet to become profitable, and remember, that's what this is all about: money.
