Mass Effect 2 will be on two discs, Collector's Edition detailed

Probably my most anticipated game for 2010, Mass Effect 2, is going to have a feature that will read your save file from the previous game, so that your previous choices will affect the entire series. If a character died in the first game, they will stay dead in the second one. With the great graphics and hopefully improved shooter elements, Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an excellent experience.
Bioware has just confirmed that Mass Effect 2 will be a 2 disc game. According to Community Coordinator Chris Priestly: "Mass Effect 2 is just too awesome to fit on 1 disc." To put into perspective how much stuff they crammed into this game, it'll be twice the size of Dragon Age Origins, which the company advertises as having over 100 hours of content in it. With a 2nd disc I don't even want to think about how much times I'm going to need to play Mass Effect 2 to finish it.
With 2 discs the PC gets the better end of the deal. On the PC version you would just need to install both discs, however on the Xbox 360 version you will be forced to do a disc swap at some point in this, apparently, massive adventure. However, Bioware has stated that "Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. One swap and then done."
In other Mass Effect related news, announced was their Collector's Edition of the game, which will feature:
- The full version of Mass Effect 2 (Two Mass Effect 2 Game Discs and 1 "Making of" Disc)
- Bonus in–game Collectors' Edition weapon and armor
- 48–page hardcover art book
- Limited Edition Cerberus Network card granting access to bonus content
- Issue #1 of the Mass Effect comic book by Dark Horse comics.
- All housed in a premium tin package with exclusive artwork
So are you still excited for Mass Effect 2 after hearing that there are going to be 2 discs? Are you considering buying the Collector's edition with all this great stuff in it? Even with two discs all of the things in the Collector's Edition sound excellent and probably worth the money for me. How about you?
