Lenovo Skylight: The Frisbee Smartbook
The Skylight is part netbook, part smartphone, and I think it's part Frisbee. The real question is if that makes it a game-changer or just another toy. The device seems to look more of a children's toy then anything else. The design of the device is an ultra thin clamshell design and weighs less than two pounds-like i said, a Frisbee. It's a sturdy build, though it seems like it could take being tossed around in your backpack.
There's not much in the way of ports, but the Skylight does have HDMI-out, which is great if you plan on storing movies on it. The Snapdragon processor is said to get 8 hours of battery life, but even if it's half of that with HD playback that's more than enough to watch a movie or two on a long flight. The Skylight has it's own 8GB memory kernel to run and a 4GB usb stick(upgradeable to 16GB) on which you can store content (why not just buy a nice 32GB flash is beyond me). The way they hide the memory is nice though by hiding it right above the keyboard and flipping it up to access or replace.
The device will inclue built-in Wi-Fi, but it also will rely on AT&T's 3G network, which after having the iPhone on that network, it's going to be hard for it to produce such a smooth online system.
It's very possible this could go somewhere but it seems that we will have to wait and see.
