$99 iTV with Apps Coming in Fall
The Apple TV is one of the company’s least popular and successful products. Having great potential, the product hasn’t be revamped for quite some time aside from some interface lifts along the way. Now we’re hearing some rumblings about a $99 replacement dubbed the iTV. It will share the iPhone 4’s processor (the A4) and similar storage sizes (16 GB) when it launches this fall. The new set-top box will run iOS apps but won’t support 1080p content. In its place will be the slightly lower-res HD standard, 720p. Previous rumors add that it will be about the same size and have similar appearances as the iPhone 4, which causes suspicion that these two devices might somehow work together though an app or hardware accessory. My fingers are crossed for an exciting announcement and another one of Apple’s revolutionary products. Expect to hear more about this at Apple’s September event…
