Activision Announces "First Strike" Map Pack for Black Ops

Surprising absolutely no one, Activision has announced, on Major Nelson’s official podcast no less, that the first map pack for Black Ops with drop on February 1st, exclusively on Xbox LIVE. No date was given for when we’ll see it on PS3 and PC but many are speculating that it will arrive one month later like what happened with Modern Warfare 2. Containing 4 Multiplayer maps and a Nazi Zombies level, it will still be overpriced at 1200 Microsoft Points or $15. Get all the details on each map after the break!

On the podcast, Dan Bunting also explained that they “learned a lot of lessons from designing each map about what everyone liked and didn’t like. For the DLC, we are ensuring that the maps have more verticality to them as well as lots of scriptted moments that change the way the map is laid out, like how the buttons on Radiation changed the layout of the map when they were pushed.”

    The maps themselves are:

    • Berlin Wall : Which is set around Checkpoint Charlie during a battle between the forces on each side of the wall.
    • Discovery: Based on the Reznov mission of the Campaign, it takes place at the German Antarctic research facilty, but in modern times, meaning that the station has been long abandoned since World War II and the events during Reznov’s mission.
    • Kowloon: Again, based off the Campaign, you will be battling on the rooftops of the Kowloon area in China.
    • Stadium: The more silly map of the bunch, Stadium takes places in a hockey rink. Expect everyone to take this map totally seriously, so you better bring your skates!
    • Ascension: No info was given other than there are zombies in this map. Although this is shocking news for most of you, we can expect more concrete info in the coming weeks.

So, do you guys still think that paying 15 dollars is worth it for 5 maps? Leave your comments below!
