After firmware update, Samsung Blu-ray players unable to play Warner and Universal movies

From the department of “What the hell, why isn’t my movie working?” — Samsung has updated their Blu-ray players with a bad update. The update results in users being blocked from playing Universal and Warner Bros. movies, which conveniently lock up after displaying the title image. Samsung has reverted back to an older (but functional) firmware version on its support site that should fix the problem for now. The thing is, users are still having problems downgrading to the older Firmware, and it seems like we’ll just have to wait for the “next” firmware version… whenever that arrives.
