App Review (iOS) - I Do Lists
There are countless to-do-list apps on the iTunes App Store but there aren’t many that keep the idea simple. No, I don’t care about priority or being able to sync across to my other computers and devices. Those have a time and a place, but sometimes I just want an endless stream of virtual paper to remember what I gotta do today or remember to get at the store.
I Do Lists
App type: To-Do List
Price: Free - $3.99
Compatible: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad — iOS 4 required
Developer: Eight Thumbs ltd.
Apple’s native Notepad app is convenient, yes, but a little on the boring side. Not to say that I Do Lists is any more exciting, because it’s not. However, since it was built to specifically be a to-do list manager (of sorts) it works at doing just that. I don’t want to have to go into Notepad and delete a whole group of words, one by one as I cross off things to I’ve got to get done. Why would I do that when I could open up this new app and simply gesture through the list and check off my progress. And if need be, I can tap onto the plus button and create a new list of things that I want to accomplish within seconds.
In terms of productivity and quality we’ve talked about other apps such as this before; like Wunderlist and all the different features it offers. I Do Lists is more core to the idea of less is more — it’s Wunderlist without all the trimmings and flash. You can create countless multiple lists with the option of emailing or sending them through SMS. The UI is easy to understand, and its design is minimal — just the way we like it.
There’s a free version to download with a nagging ad on the bottom portion, however an in-app payment of $4 will get rid of it. Whether you can live with the pesky ad poking at your attention is up to you, but we do recommend giving I Do Lists a try.
