The entire idea of the game is extremely rudimentary but some how extremely addictive. Essentially you are a bird of which has tiny wings so it cannot fly. The map of which all of the game is played upon is an assortment of hills unlike most birds you are sliding up and down these hills. The game machenics are based off of a one button (or tap) arcade game. When holding on the screen you pull your wings in which makes you go down the hill faster, but you do not want to put your wings in while going up a hill. Once your bird begins to move rapidly you start flying up in the air, the wing control is also used to pull you up and down out of the air so you can land on the hills correctly. The main objective of the game is to go as far and as fast as you can so the night time doesn’t catch up to you.
The maps are absolutely beautiful and really artistic something that we need to see in more games these days. Your character is the small cute little bird of which only makes annoying noises while playing the game, another reason why this game reminds me of Angry Birds. Once you get the bird off the ground the game really becomes fun trying to line and queue everything up just how you want can become difficult. After failing the first time you must try again and you then become stuck in the constitent loop of a tiny birds addiction, caugh caugh Angry Birds.
The game is fun artsy and just quircky and different. The music hits the spot and goes right along with the unique qaulity of the map. The controls are extremely easy to understand and adapt to along with the color pallette, which really pops on the iPhone 4. The graphics flow nice and smoothly and brags a smooth 60fps even on older devices. Currently the game only supports OpenFeint to share game scores which is a downful but luckily they have promises game center support in the next (first) update.
Overall
Tiny Wings defines iPhone games and it is really what the future games on the iPhone should strive to be. It is a really simple game which can be adpoted by and loved by all users. It is different, colorful, and artsy something that you would only see in the App Store. The game is addictive, fast paced, and well made. At $0.99 this is a must download!
