Apple is making bigger gains in business markets than PC's
This is a little tidbit of surprising news from the business world — apparently, Apple is making deep strides into the business market, and until now PC’s have been the titans of the enterprise world. If you take a minute, and look into the offices of such companies as Twitter, Facebook, Squarespace, Google etc. — you’ll see that every one of their employees is using a Mac. These days, it’s just the hip thing for tech companies to do — and right now, tech companies are king of consumer enterprise.
Usually, the Mac does extremely well in the education sector, but recently Apple has fallen short, and PC’s have taken the slack in Schools — most likely due to always shrinking budgets. On the other hand, the Mac has taken a surprising turn (probably surprising for Apple too), and has started a path to dominate the world of business computing. Mac shipments to businesses grew 50 percent in the second quarter of 2010, and sales to government organizations rose a staggering 200 percent, much larger than the overall market growth of 12 percent.
Breaking down the business segment further, Needham noted that Mac growth among smaller-sized businesses—somewhere Apple has typically done well—is outpacing the rest of the industry by a factor of three to four. However, Mac growth in “large” and “very large” businesses—the traditional Windows stronghold—is around 100 percent, while the rest of the industry grew about 20 percent in these same segments
