PC - Darkspore Review

I have a conundrum; I have absolutely no idea how to talk about Darkspore in relation to Spore. Labelling Darkspore as a sequel to Will Wright’s Spore does not feel apt, but spin-off doesn’t sit right either. Spiritual Successor perhaps? No. The best way to describe Darkspore is to consider how an idea forms. Darkspore and Spore essentially come from the same spark of innovation, but the final outcomes play as if that initial idea had been developed in a parallel universe. Brief reminders exist; the creature creation and the aesthetics of the creatures for example, but it is an entirely different gaming experience. Can going to the dark-side ever result in success? — Find out in our review after the break!

PS3 Review - Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

It won’t be long before every single popular movie franchise has a Lego adaptation. To name just a few; Traveller’s Tales have taken on Batman, Harry Potter, and will be taking on Pirates of the Caribbean in the summer. In the mean time, Traveller’s Tales is returning to the franchise that made its gaming formula so popular; Star Wars. Having already comprehensively covered the original films and the prequels, the latest entry will be focusing around the events of the Clone Wars. Can it live up to its predecessor’s excellent reputation? — Read our full review over the break.

PS3 - Motorstorm: Apocalypse Review

The release of Motorstorm: Apocalypse is kind of fitting if a little inappropriate, given the amount of natural disasters recently. Sony were sensitive in its decision to delay the release, but too much sensitivity would interfere with profits and so the delay was a short one. Can Motorstorm: Apocalypse capture the fear and adrenaline that racing through an Apocalypse would surely bring? Or should it have stuck to its muddy and dirty roots? — Our review after the break!

Bulletstorm Review

Reviewing Bulletstorm immediately after playing Bulletstorm is probably a bad idea. It’s just so damn tempting to litter the page with a dozen expletives and tell you all to bloody well grow some genitals. If that sentence managed to offend you, then stay far, far away from Bulletstorm. — Read our full review after the break.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds - PS3 Review

The health warning when Marvel vs Capcom 3 first loads up states “This game contains sequences with rapidly flashing images”. This is an understatement to the highest degree. The game doesn’t contain flashing images, the game is flashing images. There is no respite to the onslaught of colour and light, every special attack is accompanied by an equally special array of graphical effects and comic book magic that will leave you slightly dazed and wondering if your perception has been opened to a whole new dimension of amazement and fun. — Read our full review after the break!

PSN Review - Stacking

On the surface, a game that involves playing exclusively as a Russian Doll does not sound very appetizing. But with the creative minds of Double Fine behind the project, which as a reminder to you are the same people who brought us Costume Quest, it promises to be a puzzle game full of intrigue and wonderment. Can Russian Dolls really win over a gamer’s heart? — Read our review after the break

PC Review - Dungeons

Does the very mention of Dungeon Keeper cause you to break out in a crippling bout of nostalgia? Are you frantically hunting for anything that can quell your Diablo III anticipation? Dungeons may be just what you need. On the surface, it appears to be a spiritual successor to the Dungeon Keeper series merged with Diablo-esque action-RPG elements. Can it live up to either of these franchises? Or will it simply be a failed experiment of borrowed ideas? — Read our full review after the break!
