Nokia seems to be on the backburner in the western world with Google and Apple taking the limelight. It’s pretty nuts to thing that in just years an entire company can fade into the background, but the real question is: Is Nokia actually dead in the water? Sure they don’t have the hottest phones on the planet, and they aren’t as hip as they once were, but is Nokia acutally dead?
Apple has been known for bringing in the biggest catch for developers when it comes to App purchases, but in mobile advertising, Android seems to be really pushing to surpass Apple and maybe make App purchases irrelevant all together. It’s great to know that developers are making money, and that both Apple and Android seem to have a pretty healthy app ecosystem, but it’s only so long until one of them is left in the dust…
Browsers are an animal all on their own. They are the most important app on people’s computer and allow us to experience the almighty internet of awesomeness, but at the same time they can suck. So while they’re important, they are still vulnerable to the test of time, much like actors. It’s an interesting comparison, but one that does make sense.
When a company wants to solve a problem, and they don’t know of anyone who can solve it, who do they turn to? That company turns to the internet, and the mind-hive that is sprawled throughout different communities. Companies have offered a small percentage of their company, small payments, or open-sourcing the project in return for crowdsourcing, and usually it turns out pretty well, and sometimes, a whole new community is born.
Every time an amazing new technology is introduced, you can bet that 20 years down the road it’s still gonna be alive and kickin’ but much faster, smaller and powerful. You can say this for about any technical innovation, like the computer — once the size of a room, it’s now a powerhouse in every home and pocket. Great ideas last and evolve with time. These are some great examples of brilliance that evolved over years of improvement.
Web designers and developers specialize in different things, but they both work to achive one common goal, and that’s to create a cool website. Developers create the platform, help wrangle the hardware and write line after line of code, while the designer painstakingly creates a good look for the site and works on making the website usable. The future is the web, and here’s who’s creating it.
