Everyone is about to be blessed with the Digg V4 release
Picture is related - The current old n’ dusty Digg website has been given a roadblock today in the form of a unicorn (complete with wings). When today’s new Digg fans finally decide to sign up for the social news giant, they are greeted by a message saying “Temporarily, we’re not accepting new Digg accounts” and Digg prompts you to enter your email address to be notified when the new Digg V4 is open to the public.
This is what you get when you click the “Join Digg” link in the top menu bar — a unicorn with a single text box asking you to share your email address (which the Digg crew will use to tell you when Digg V4 is open and available), but this isn’t the first time Digg V4 has been launched. Earlier this year, Digg V4 was launched in alpha (invitation only) over at new.digg.com
It was an instant buzz machine, with Kevin Rose acting as the front-man, and shameless plugs on various blogs and podcasts provoked by excitement. Currently, there has been a sizable surge of usage on the Digg Alpha site due to the buzz, but also the novelty of new services like RSS imports, a cleaner UI and a much simpler submission process. All in all, we feel this is going to be a smoother migration than expected…
