FOX delays shows 8 days on Hulu, piracy nearly doubles since
When will these companies ever learn? We’re just sitting here, shaking our heads and wondering how these companies are ever going to survive if they keep this up. A few weeks ago, Fox decided to delay their shows for 8 days until they would arrive on Hulu in hopes of gaining cable subscribers and thus making more money — everyone saw this coming a mile away.
TorrentFreak stated that “Over the last week TorrentFreak tracked two Fox shows on BitTorrent to see if there was an upturn in the number of downloads compared to the previous weeks, and the results are as expected. For both Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef the download numbers have surged.
During the first 5 days, the number of downloads from the U.S. for the latest episode of Hell’s Kitchen increased by 114% compared to the previous 3 episodes. For MasterChef the upturn was even higher with 189% more downloads from the U.S. For MasterChef; the extra high demand may in part have been facilitated by the fact that it was the season finale.”
In summary
Companies need to learn that people don’t necicarrily care if they have to pay for something or not, they just want it as soon as possible. When they hear about a new episode of our favorite show, we are instantly scowering the internet for a place to watch it, no matter where that takes us — but sadly, this isn’t the reality for these companies. They’re spending time and money to save a dying business model, meanwhile there’s a ripe, plentiful, gold trimmed path to customers through the internet. If you don’t give it to us now (we don’t mind paying), we’re going to pirate it end of story.
