GetGlue is one of the fastest growing social networks on the web, and it’s revolutionizing the way we find and share our entertainment content. GetGlue allows you to post what your watching, listening, reading, playing, thinking, chatting about, and drinking (Random much?). Along with being able to post content you can read your friends posted content and see what their up to which is fantastic.
Once you have your posts up friends have the ability to post comments and tell whether or not they like what your doing. All of these features are also ported to mobile applications for iPhone, iPad, and Android, and along with their mobile suite they have also released a Chrome extension which helps you sift through content while navigating through entertainment based sites.
Beyond being social, GetGlue allows you to rate and review what you have already seen and provides a wonderful recommendation engine for you to see more stuff you’d like. This feature is extremely helpful when your bored at home, staring at an empty Netflix queue. Despite most services’ desperate attempts at this feature, GetGlue has executed it beyond belief.
Stickers, stickers, and more stickers — GetGlue provides a lush (and still growing) rewards system. After “checking in” so many times or reviewing so many things, you get a reward which comes in the form of stickers. These stickers once achieved can be sent to you for free and you can boast to your friends about all of your achievements. The sticker system is very vast and has a huge amount of stickers, which personally I feel degrades the amount of excitement when you do obtain one.
Overall GetGlue is a unique at home check in service with an amazing recommendation engine built in. It is changing the way companies are going to market to you along with changing the way you are going to find content. Today it is a useful and fun service and tomorrow it could be the platform of the future pushing realtime data to the forefront of technology.
