How to - Make Web apps work like Real apps

We all use web apps like crazy - like Gmail, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter and sometimes we get tired of using our plain old browser to use them. Without having to rely on an external application, like using Outlook to access Gmail, you can take all the online apps you use and add them to your desktop like regular applications. This allows them to provide notifications, have their own icons, or be launched from spotlight, or the start menu like a regular application. It's also handy to be able to run two of the same instances of one app, without having the other one forced to log out.
