Now that that’s off my chest — “holy crap this is… underwhelming…”.
I remember playing the original Duke Nukem with my Dad and I loved it because it wasn’t about any “technical achievements” or “insane graphics”, it was about having fun blowing up monsters and exploring cool environments. I’m worried that the new Duke Nukem is going to make 2 mistakes — First, their going to try to copy every other shooter out there, using a dark grungy feel and super-realistic environments with recycled game mechanics and action game clichés.
Secondly, I am afraid this game is going to move away from the original Duke Nukem’s core values — badass, over the top fun first, and “realism” second. I am really hoping that they stick to their original view on the series — a game with borderline comic-book style mechanics and characters, with realistic, real world environments and weapons with a generous helping of humor. This game needs to stick to its roots, and core innovations if it’s going to stand out from the crowd.
