LOL, OMG, FYI and more added to the Official Oxford English Dictionary

Realizing the importance of abbreviated internet terms in today’s culture, Oxford has decided to include some of the most popular in their official English dictionary. The terms which have been added are LOL, OMG, FTY, and ♥ (not <3, but the actual symbol) and they’ll be joining the previously added internet terms IMHO and BFF. Some may say this it’s crazy to add silly words and abbreviations into a dictionary only to represent the internet, and most people who actually use paper dictionaries will probably be a little confused — but the next time my parents see the term “IMHO” online, they’ll be able to open up a dictionary and discover what it means — it’s what dictionaries are for afterall right?

Question — Do you think these terms warrant a spot in an official dictionary?
