Microsoft to Increase Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription Prices in November
Well, this is gonna get ugly. Major Nelson has just updated his blog with the news that as of November 1st 2010, the price of an Xbox LIVE Gold membership has been increased in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK.
As you can see in the graph posted above, Canada, Mexico and the UK all have fairly minor increases in price with it just being an extra dollar or pound for one month in Canada and the UK respectively. The U.S, however, is getting more substantial increases in price from $59.99 for an annual subscription (up from $49.99), a three month subscription will now cost $24.99 (Up from $19.99) and finally, similar to the other countries, the price for one month subscriptions will now be $9.99 (Up from $7.99).
Now before you rip your hair out, Microsoft is offering 30 percent off a 12 month subscription right here (putting the discounted price at $39.99 USD). Once everyone’s done that, you can join the inevitable riot outside Microsoft’s doors.
I’m going to take a wild guess and say the Internet is going to react very, very, negatively to this, especially U.S. residents. Thank goodness I’m Canadian!
