New Gorillaz Album Made on the iPad and has been Released for Free
It has finally been released — The Fall by the Gorillaz. One of the greatest parts of the album, aside from it being built completely on the iPad, is that it’s been released completely for free! Of course there are a few strings attached — for members of the Gorillaz site, it can be downloaded completely free, but for non-members you can only stream it after signing up for the mailing letter. If you would like it on your devices and media players, then sadly you’re going to have to wait until later in 2011, and by then the price isn’t going to be free.
The Gorillaz describe the album as
“All tracks written and performed by Gorillaz using the iPad and additional instruments: Korg Vocoder, Ukelele, Microkorg, Omnichord, Moog Voyager, Melodica, Guitar, Piano, Korg Monotron. Except track 13 written and performed by Gorillaz and Bobby Womack. Recorded between Montreal and Vancouver over 32 days on the Gorillaz North American Tour 2010”
According to Albarn
“The music was recorded during spare time while on the road. I did it because there’s a lot of time that you just spend staring at walls essentially. And it was a fantastic way of doing it. I found working in the day, whether it’s in the hotel or in the venue, it was a brilliant way of keeping myself well.”

I’ve been listening to the album while writing this article and (of course) being a huge Gorillaz fan, I like it! The album has a very electronic sound with the Gorillaz few melancholy moments. It’s almost a combination of Dare and Plastic Beech. Overall I say this is a must listen and must download when it is released because it is really great music, and the quality is definately there — even though it was made on the iPad — Download it here!
