New Squarespace homepage design looks different, but amazing
Squarespace has been pumping out news like crazy for the past while, including really detailed information on the next release of their platform, Version 6. They are obviously wrapping up the details and making sure everything will fit together and launch without a hitch, but Squarespace is also re-vamping their own homepage and boy-oh-boy is it beautiful!
The new Squarespace homepage - totally new
Looking at it from a designer perspective (and what we’ve seen so far), Squarespace’s Creative Director, Tyler Thompson and Designer Stephen Parker, are seriously cracking the whip when it comes to keeping their design consistent and free of clichés (gloss, tears and gradients). They’re new look seems to be inspired by the frantic and creative art culture of New York (Squarespace is located in SoHo) bringing new elements like paint splotches and light grunge to the table.
Squarespace also seems to also be inspired by print design and the typography on their site fits the bill perfectly along with the “worn” feel and the new icons (less precise and machined). They’re also sticking to their plain and colorless site style (greys, whites, blacks and box-shadows) allowing for elements like buttons to pop, adding a touch of color to the page.
We don’t know much more about the new Squarespace homepage other than the shot on Dribbble, but we’re sure this vibe will be spreading throughout the Squarespace ecosystem and eventually inspire other designers to adopt this really fresh look. Looking forward to version 6 and the new design that will come along with it!
