Microsoft has sort of become the underdog in the smartphone wars and Windows Phone 7 seems to be their only hope, and they seem to be headed in the (very) right direction.
Every other smartphone company is focused on keeping it’s users glued to the device for as long as possible, and Microsoft seems to be taking a more organic direction, and respecting human instinct in the process. Developing a phone that customers can take out and put away without getting distracted is a missing piece in the tech industry, and if I can own a smartphone that will get stuff done quicker, and get me back to my life faster, I am in 100%.
That said, this is a commercial. We still have yet to see if Windows Phone 7 actually “gets stuff done faster” and gets you back to your life — but the minimalistic interface, quick navigation and very clear, “metro” interface that the applications use is only going to help us get stuff done faster.
Overall, Windows Phone 7’s values are much different than any other smartphone OS’s — making the content that your looking at the number one priority, and letting the OS itself, fade into the background. Time will tell if Windows Phone 7 holds true to the claims, but I can only hope that it performs as advertised.
