Our crazy speculations about Apple's iTunes announcement happening tomorrow
Apple is teasing a “day that we’ll never forget” and that day is tomorrow, concerning iTunes. This is when the rumours get flung around like poop in a monkeys cage, and we want to stick with the really crazy ones. Here’s some of the possible reasons for the “huge” announcement”.
Craziest rumors you’ll hear today
A cloud music service — When Apple bought Lala, there was this idea that came up where Apple would turn iTunes into a cloud service. It’s been a very long time since Apple shut down Lala, and we still haven’t seen anything of this nature. This could be it, and maybe it could be the main reason for the iOS 4.2 delay — integrating cloud services with the iPad, iPhone, iPod and Mac.
iOS could become cloud based — This follows our theory of Apple possibly making iOS a cloud based mobile OS, and turning iTunes into a cloud service. If Apple hosted the music, personal data and the actual OS, Jailbreaking would (sadly) be no more and we would be able to access our data anywhere.
iTunes wouldn’t suck anymore — Apple could be planning to take all the suck out of iTunes, and actually make it a streamlined, polished application. They could also be implementing the “full-screen” stuff from iPhoto, and maybe strip away some of the bulk.
Get rid of iTunes and keep Ping — This could be the craziest rumor of them all. Apple could be planning to brand iTunes “Ping” and refresh the brand. Even though Ping is a horrible service, this could breath some life into it by turning iTunes and Ping into one, seamless product - add the cloud services and better, more open social integration and you have yourself a better application.
The Beatles - Sorry, we had to go there.
