Rogers on Demand is filled with porn, and it's awkward

Today, my sister, her boyfriend and I decided to watch a movie called “Pulse” which according to them was going to be a “great amazing movie” (it wasn’t, it was a mediocre horror movie) and since we we’re having trouble finding it in the Rogers on Demand movie catalogue, we decided to search for it. Now, this was a bad idea, and luckily it was just us — but what if our parents were there?

We know Rogers has porn on Demand (probably 90% of their profits) because every day, I see an “Adult 4 U” section right on the homescreen, which seems a little careless on their part, but here’s where it gets wierd. The Rogers on Demand store is about 99% porn, and we found that out by our search for “Pulse” which is a horror movie, but the search feature searches for everything — Including porn.

    Our searching adventures

Why it’s embarrasing — Imagine you and your family are settling in to watch a movie, popcorn ready and snacks on hand. You seem to have trouble finding the flick that you want to enjoy, so you decide to start a search. You start typing in the title of the movie and all you get is porn (trust me, we tested this out for every movie imaginable) — now this is where the awkwardness sets in. The room gets quiet, and you continue to refine your search, only to be greeted by more porn — that is until you type in the last letter, and are finally at your destination.

Really Rogers? You include porn in searches? If anything this should have been one of your main priorities when creating this service — imagine a parent trying to find a flick for their kids and being greeted by “Dripping Crotches”? I don’t understand why this would have missed the gatekeepers, but obviously you haven’t done anything about it.

Please Rogers, save me the embarrassment — Put the porn somewhere else. It’ll still be there, but please keep it out of the way until someone actually needs it. Don’t advertise stuff like this on a family friendly service. We hope to hear back.
