The Best Podcasts to watch and listen to if you're a geek

You have just recently purchased a Roku box, bought a new Apple TV, and you’re just looking for something to watch as a geek. Years ago we had TechTV and G4 on cable and satellite network companies but today everything has reverted to reality television programming, leaving geeks around the world with nothing to watch. Luckily there are companies which many of us are already probably fimiliar with, Revision3, TWiT, RoosterTeeth and more. They are all internet television companies which specialize in technology based content, and essentially shows just for geeks. Here we’ll give you our line up of the must of have geek podcasts.

The Okay Geek Show! - Yup, we have our own show and it’s pretty damn awesome. We’re about 6 episodes deep so far and we constantly release a new episode every week. Make sure to check out our latest episode and subscribe to always have the latest episode!

App Judgement - App Judgment started as a small app review show where two people would review applications without a rubric and just gave you the general aroma of the application. Today App Judgement is a show that is released multiple times a week featuring applications across all platforms including tablets, the show has a rubric which it bases it’s reviews off of, and gives you a download or don’t download advisory at the end. Overall this is a great show for anyone who has a smart-phone and is looking to get the most out of their smart-phone experience.

Apple Byte - The Apple Byte is every fanboys dream a show completely dedicated to Apple news, releases, leaks, and just everything Apple. The show is hosted by Brian Tong who discuss the latest and greatest and never allows it to get boring, each episode has some kind of skit or constant on going joke to always make it interesting. This is by far one of my favorite shows out there and easily my favorite show produced by CNET.

Dan 3.0 - Dan 3.0 is a show with a mission, and more then a show it is an internet based concept. The show follows Dan Brown (The arubics cube kid) around as he does daily tasks. Although there is a twist the users pick the tasks that Dan will be doing on what is known as the “Decision Engine”, here people can rate ideas up and down for Dan to do.

NSFW - This is a really awesome show starring Brian Brushwood and Justin Robert Young where they dive into the belly of the internet and dig up awesome treasures, play pranks and ultimately screw around for about two hours. It’s especially fun to watch the show live because you can take part in the different contests they throw and be part of some awesome mischief!

Diggnation - Diggnation is easily my favorite show ever, it is an entertaining news show all based upon the top stories on Digg. The show hosts Kevin Rose who is the founder of Digg, Alex Albrect who is an internet star (If you will), David Prager who is the producer and head over at Revision3, Hippie Glen who is the camera man and the resident hippie, and whoever they can get there hands on that week. The premise of the show is Kevin and Alex read stories from Digg, and discuss them over a couple of beers. It is just a great show to watch every week and take a break from whatever your doing at the time, although I don’t advise bringing the family with you to watch it.

Drunk Tank - When it comes to being a geek, there is a certain essence that can’t be found in scripted dialogue or a teleprompter. Drunk Tank is a podcast starring the guys from RoosterTeeth (Red vs. Blue, Immersion, Achievement Hunter) where they sit, drink and talk about life’s problems, new games/movies/tv shows and basically just have a fun time. It’s really awesome to hear these guys talk about snake poop, WoW and everything they do at RoosterTeeth.

Film Riot - Film Riot is the show for up and coming YouTube stars, or podcasters who would eventually like to make it onto this list. Ryan Connolly the shows host is a film making expert and the premise of the show is a how-to be a film maker idea, and keep it on the cheap. Although most of the stuff is aimed toward film makers the show is just a great show to watch, the hosts are hilarious, the skits are mind blowing, and it’s just a fun 15 minutes.

Foundation - Foundation is Kevin Rose’s latest addition to the Revision3 network, and it focuses on talking to the most successful people in Silicon Valley. The show is very serious compared to Kevin’s Digg Nation. Kevin interviews some of the most interesting people in the technology world, hearing their life stories, attempting at getting entrepreneurial tips out of them, and really give an up close look at what there day to day lives are like in the office. It is a great show for anyone who is at all interested in technology, the culture, or business.

GeekBeat.TV - GeekBeat.TV is hosted by a very fimiliar face, Cali Lewis. GeekBeat is that 5 minute quick show everyday getting every little of technology news in it. She does awesome features, goes to exciting venues, and has a great blogging staff to back-up all the news she brings up on the show. Overall if you want that technology news splash in the morning while eating your cereal this is the show.

Hak5 - Hak5 is an amazing show bringing old-school tech to today’s technologies. The show is hosted by Darren Kitchen which we sometimes see on Buzz Out Loud another amazing technolgy news show hosted by CNET. Darren is a hacker extrordinary who will show you the ropes of navigating a public Wi-Fi network to running some homebrew on your flash-drive. The show is for people based with a pretty well technology understanding, but they usually break things down quite well and I would definetly advise any techy looking to go to the next level to check it out.

Scam School - Scam School brings the inner Chris Angel out in everybody. It is a fantastic show featuring card tricks, mind tricks, and just amazing feets to wow people all around, and maybe win you a few beers as the premise of the show goes. The show is hosted by Brian Brushwood an awesome dude who Brandond Davenport got to see at CES last year. Overall it’s a fun show for anyone to watch who wants to bring some action to their side of the bar next time they go out, and maybe win a few free beers in the process.

Tekzilla - Tekzilla is the first technology show that I can remember watching, it put Revision3 on the map. It is a show hosted by Patrick Norton and Veronica Belmont. The show focusses talking about the latest in technology, answering user questions, bringing in technology hot shots, and just showing off the wonders of teh technological world. It is no Hak5 and can easily be adopted by any technological skill level.

Tom’s Top 5 - Is a technology top 5 count down hosted by CNET’s Tom Merritt where they pick a category discuess features and give the five best products in that category.

The Totally Rad Show - The Totally Rad Show is a geeks masterpiece of entertainment. It is a daily show where they review video games, TV shows, movies, books, comics, and recently been trying to review music. They play games all based upon knowledge of movies and video games, and it’s just a great show to get the inner geek out. It is hosted by Alex Albrect, Jeff Canata, and Dan Trachtenberg all guys who have great knowledge and experience with movies, video games, and the entertainment industry as a whole. This is a great show for anyone and everyone to watch, even my 60-year-old parents like it.

TWIT - TWIT is probably one of the most famous podcasts to ever be created. Hosted by the internet’s very own Leo Leoporte is a technology geeks dream of tech news, how to’s, problem solving, and ranting. It is a great show to listen to while getting work done or have playing in the background. TWIT is recently expanding into new office space and studios and I can’t wait to see what that does to their already amazing shows. TWIT is the technology show for anyone whether your a geek or not.

Unboxing Porn - Unboxing Porn is exactly what it sounds like. For those who scoure YouTube trying to find the latest products being unboxed by some twelve year old this just might be your next addition. It adds a comical professional touch to the art of unboxing. The show is premised around way old-fashion comical pornography (As a joke of the items in the box being the porn) and it is just a cheesy unboxing show where they open the product discuss it’s power and do the classic unboxing nonscence.
