Youtube Social - Watch Videos with your Friends
We’ve all done it before - we’ll be on AIM or Skype or whatever messaging service we’re using to talk to friends, and we’ll share with them a link to a video on Youtube. And so we can experience the magic of their first reaction to said video, we say stuff like “tell me when you start watching it”. Well, no more. With Youtube Social, friends can now experience the same video at the same time.
How does it work? Easy as pie is how.
Simply take any URL from youtube; such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCEcYg3lNR4&feature=topvideos - a link to the Green Latern trailer.
Then from there type in “social” after “youtube” and before the “.com”; so the URL looks like this: www.youtubesocial.com/watch?v=RCEcYg3lNR4&feature=topvideos
Once that’s done you’ll be taken to the Youtube Social page of that video, as well as a invite to send to friends so they can join you in your viewing party. There’s also a chat panel on the right hand-side, though the only way for people to log in is through Facebook Connect. So unless you have Facebook there’s no way you can use your own username in the chat - which is really no big deal, if you don’t mind being “guest123”, that is.
To change up videos just search youtube with the “Find Videos” button at the top, and enjoy streaming videos without having to share video URL’s with friends anymore.
