Making yourself "Future-Proof"
Kokugamer has an interesting article about the rise of technology and how to not get caught offguard buying the shiny stuff at the wrong time.
One of the few guidelines mentioned is patience. As we saw with early adopters of the iPhone, they paid a substantially more amount of money than those who waited. Although, you could say the Original iPhone users did win out because their contracts were ending around the time the 3GS was released - giving them the chance to get it at a discounted price by upgrading and renewing their contracts.
Patience wins out when it comes to software and hardware. Kinks and bugs line the streets up once a product has gone to market, so giving yourself a set period of time to wait, about 6 months to a yearm can give you a wiser outlook on if the purchase would be worth the money and your time. I mean, if you went out and bought every so called "iPhone killer" you heard on an ad, then you'd have about 5 phones and a whole lot of moths in your wallet.
