Core i7 iMacs shipping with cracked screens, or not working at all
Apple launched the new iMacs a while back and they were supposed to be amazing, powerful machines. Unfortunately they are a little more brittle than we thought -- Apple's support forums and other Mac boards around the web reveal that some machines are showing up DOA (Dead on Arrival) and / or with cracked screens. Engadget just bought a new i7 iMac and it does not boot at all. The cracked screens seem to be affecting the bottom left corner. So we recommend that if you want a nice 27" iMac, you should hold tight for a bit. If you already got one, maybe take it back to the Apple store and ask a couple questions, they may (should) have some answers.
