Twitter App now Available on Zune HD
The Zune HD is a super sexy little music player. And now that sleek shiny (that's a lot of adjectives that start with S) has got itself a native Twitter app for all your tweeting needs.... or does it? Before you go off and run to get the latest addition to Microsoft's love child though, you may want to read up on a couple of crucial details on how it runs and what it does, or doesn't do.
The Zune is known for being visually appealing, and yes, the Twitter application is just that, but that's not the problem. The place where the client falls short is in its execution; laggy service and slow refresh times are bugging out 'HD' users only after playing around with for less than a day. I'm not positive, but I don't think that's the kind of press you want to get when you're trying to compete with the iPod touch and its heralded App Store. But I'm rootin' for ya Microsoft. I have faith that the glitches and crashes will be remedied soon, I hope.
Oh yeah, before I forget - There's also one more teeny tiny issue with the Zune's native Twitter client - it censors cuss words. Don't know what's up with that; trying to be kid friendly or something? I have no clue, but censorship doesn't seem to appeal to the Twitter audience which only wants to break free from mass media dictating them on what they can and can't say. Looks like MS has got to back to the drawing board on this one.
