Final Fantasy XIII Dumbed Down for Casuals (Image)
Not so sure if it was meant for casuals or not, but what other reason could there be for turning the game into a race to the finished line? I've played a ton of Final Fantasy's in my day, taking down FF3 and FF4 recently, but this is stretch after the sort of areas and dungeons you had to traverse through in FF12. The underground Japanese are already baggin' on the game before it was released, seeing it as a the equivalent of what Halo and Madden are for gamers in the US, and this just adds more fuel to their firey rage. If there's anything that makes the fans go wild is less hand holding and more innovation, but then again we're talking about an RPG here - the genre in which change can be met with certain death.
But THIS (below) is ridiculous.
Oh, and that text at the bottom says:
Vanille - “This path is easy to understand, isn’t it?”
This sort of stuff isn't getting me hyped for the game's NA release, and it only makes me more pumped for FF Versus XIII, and there hasn't even been a gameplay trailer for that yet. Now that should tell you something. This straight forward map thing isn't sitting right with me - I don't like my games catering to my interests; I wasn't raised on NES games that did for me, so why should Final Fantasy be any different? Though, it's hard to complain as Final Fantasy has slowly, but surely, become the only RPG mainstream audiences can name.
