How to Make WOW (world of warcraft) alot faster

We all know you love WOW and we all know you hate playing it at the speed of Ol' Grandpa climbing a ladder. Well, we have the solution. In this quick and easy tutorial, we'll show you how to get your game on, without a high end pc. We will look at, Hardware Optimization, OS Optimization, Game Optimization

Hardware Optimization

Video card

If you have a video card, you will have to use it to its full potential. No matter if you use Nvidia, or ATI (any model) you HAVE to have a driver.

Download the latest Nvidia drivers

Download the latest ATI drivers

Then restart your computer.

Hard drive

Since your game is on your hard drive, the drive has to be performing its best, but it can be easily slowed down over time. Its called Fragmentation and ALWAYS happens, over time to Hard drives.

Fragmentation is when all your files, like mp3's photos or even game files, get jumbled up, or even broken in two or more pieces on the hard drive over time. This makes it hard for the computer to find them, or even use them. This can lead to them being damaged, lost or gone for ever :(

But we can prevent this by doing something called a "Defrag". What a Defrag does is it takes all the files that belongs to a folder, or program and groups them together, so when he computer needs to use them, it finds them in a snap!

How to defrag in Windows XP

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Right-click the local disk volume that you want to defragment, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now.
  4. Click Defragment.

How to defrag in Windows Vista | 7

1. Open the start menu

2. Go to All Programs

3. Open Accessories

4. Open System tools

5. Run the Defragment tool

OS Optimization

Your operating system is the key to making your game fast. Even though your OS is very powerful, in the case of playing games, we actually want to take power away from it and give it to the game!

First

Download Game Booster

Once it is installed, run it and click "Game Mode" then close any programs like MSN or, Firefox that can slow down your computer. Your screen will flicker, because it is changing the theme to windows basic (which takes up les power than aero)

Game Optimization

Graphics Options

Full-screen Glow - This feature is only available on certain graphics cards. TURN IT OFF. It makes a slight difference in quality and has a very high cost in terms of system resources. Unless you are dead set on having it on, turn it off!

Terrain Distance - It is recommended that you set this at one notch above minimum. If your system is on the low end, set it to minimum. Setting this hgher than one notch over minimum has a very high cost in terms of performance, and it looks decent at min+1.

Anamorphic Filtering (sp?) - If your card supports this (Radeon 9600+ only I believe) make sure this is NOT set to minimum. It makes everything look much uglier. I personally settled on 2 notches above the minimum, and I used the ATI control panel to set Anamorphic Filtering at 2x. What this filter does is resample all of the graphics to keep them crisp. You can set it as high as 16x, but I found that 2x offered decent performance and quality on my average system. On my top-end system (which isn't really that high end) I settled on 8x, but the difference wasn't drastic.

Vertical Sync
- in the options for your video card (Video options => Settings => Advanced) turn off vertical sync. This was actually a tip from Blizzard on the Tech Support forum.

... and that's it!
