Medion x9613 HTPC - looks sexy

HTPC's are the "new" thing that is trying to be geared toward the family. A while back PC's were marketed as Family Computer's, and for the most part that has evolved into individual desires and needs - i.e. the Mac/Pc war. So here comes a new genre. The Home Theater PC. HP made a nice looking one, the Touch Smart, but it didn't gain too much popularity. But now out comes a new challenger in the form of the Medion X9613.

It's sleek and sexy, but pricey. It's only available on European shores, and with an american price tag in the $2000+ range. But right now, for most of us this isn't really what we need or want. Just build yourself a cheap rig with HDMI out, hook it up to a 24 incher, and then get yourself a remote. Sure, you won't get the multitouch, but c'mon, when are you going to use that, especially when you'll be using it to listen to music and watch movies?

Multitouch still has a ways to go. Right now it's still a bit too complicated for the casual end user to fiddle around with. Add specialized map, weather, photos, video, and news apps exclusively for touch and you'll hit gold. But for now it's just eye candy.
