Google Docs Soon to Accept All File Types for Cloud Storage
Up until now Google Docs has only let you upload text documents to read or edit, no matter which you computer you were using; however, an upgrade coming in the next few weeks will change that - allowing Google Docs to accept all file types to be uploaded onto your own personal cloud. But before you get all giddy about being able to edit those spreadsheets and power point projects you have, Vijay Bangaru would like to straighten you out:
"Unfortunately, it's not possible to write Web editors for every file content out there."
No BS, just right to the point. He also wanted to clear up any speculation that this is meant to be a rumored "G-Drive" a.k.a. Google cloud storage service.
"On the consumer side, this isn't a virtual drive. There isn't a client that's going to help you sync terabytes to the cloud."
-Vijay Bangaru, Google Docs product manager
Cloud computing will eventually take over the world, and all your information will be hosted and provided by Google - or so the big G likes to think and dream about. But what are your thoughts on the movement? Fan of the cloud or not?
