Sonic Runs Solo in Project Needlemouse

Sonic has seen better days. He was in his prime during the 2D with very fun and memorable adventures, great music and colourful zones. Unfortunately, he's been the subject of tons of crappy 3D games and we all just want him to die. Horribly. Preferably in flames. His last game, Sonic Unleashed was starting to get back to what the speedy blue hedgehog is known for but the "were-hog" sequences were so bad it ruined my entire experience with the game.

When i first heard of Project Needlemouse I was pretty skeptical that Sega was going to return to a true 2D experience, I trusted them when they said that for Unleashed but of course they just had to ruin it with the were-hog sequences.

Currently, Sega has been counting down which characters will be in the game from the series, with all the characters who won't be appearing being crossed out as the week goes by. Well, it's the end of the week and it seems as if all my prayers have been answered, none of Sonic's terrible and annoying "friends" will be returning. No Amy, no Charmy, no Vector etc. Put simply, this has made me much more interested in the game. It gives me hope that Sega will actually make this Sonic game good. We still haven't seen any gameplay footage, and don't know the release date but this makes me cautiously optimistic about a new game in this long series.

What about you? Think Sega will actually deliver this time? Or do you think they are going to add another terrible idea that will ruin the game?
