Youtube Music Discovery - Music minus everything else.
I often find myself looking to Youtube to find a new band I'm into, for the sole reason of "I will be able to listen to it, watch it, and it's free". The one downside of using Youtube as a makeshift iTunes is when you search for a song or band it usually brings up a couple of their music videos and a slew of useless crap. No, I don't want to see your 3 year old playing guitar to Metallica; I want to see an actual Metallica concert or music video. Now thanks to the power of science I can use Youtube Music Discovery to pull together whole albums from the masses of videos, ready for me to listen or watch.
What it does
What you do is you search for something, a song title, band, album or whatever, and then it takes you not to a search page but to an organized playlist and video that starts playing the first music video in the playlist, with the playlist underneath it containing a list of songs that go well with that band.
Then to the right it gives you a huge list of videos from that band, or query only. I searched "Radiohead" and it gave me a ton of results. It also gives you the times, song titles, and even some background info about the band and other related artists.
Try it
This is a must check out and it's located at Youtube's "Test Tube" page where they give sneak peeks on new, or upcoming features like HTML5 videos and "Feather".
