Web 3.0 - Discover new Music & Artists with thesixtyone

There are some sites out there that I think can only be deemed web 3.0 and that's because of how different they are from the intertube's social norms. These sites think outside of the box and don't care much for order. Web 1.0 was about text and menu's. Web 2.0 about shiny buttons and minimal interfaces. 3.0 to me is about content being fed directly to the one accessing the site. Here's my first site entry into this special category:

thesixtyone found by tekzilla's @Veronica Belmont, plays it fresh; musical artists post up music and users either like or not, but do it in a style that's never been done before. There's really no real structure to how the site works - which can be confusing at first, but once you've made it through the maze and adventure it plays out like massive multiplayer music player.

Type in the address, ready, listen, enjoy or skip, make up your own playlists for others to check out Last.FM style, comment, get points for finishing quests, come back again and again. It's something that I've never run init before - nothing even comes close. It's challenging to even explain the experience so you just have to try it for yourself.

It's purpose is to discover new music, which can be appreciated by everyone. Radio and TV are clogged with nothing but what exec's want you to hear, so here's a path that can set you free from that - make up your own choices in a zen like way. Yeah, I know I make it sound like it's a journey but trust me when I say that when you're surfing the web with sixtyone in the background and something you love just starts playing and it resonates with you, well, it's something special.

Make up playlists off what you like, skip what you don't like, share what you love.

About the Quests I mentioned - think of them as Xbox Achievements. For example today's daily quest was: Pick your favorite song which is at least three minutes long and listen to it three or more times in a row (without playing any other song for more than a minute). You get points for everyone you finish up, making you feel nerdier and more connected to the community.

It's a bit confusing to navigate and find your bearings while venturing through the site but c'mon, a little chaos never hurt anyone!
