How To: Get and Keep track of Xbox 360 Achievements
If you're an Xbox 360 owner then you're familiar with achievements and the elusive "Achievement Unlocked" sound. Your gamerscore may mean nothing to you, but then again there are some of you out there who just can't get enough points. Sure, they don't give you anything in return, but it realistically does add a ton of replay to games you wouldn't have cared to play over and over again for those extra 10G points - they are a lot like the "High Scores" of the 80's.
Curious, though, how do you keep track of all those achievements, and how do you find the ones you aren't quite sure how to get? Youtube can be one answer, but searching that place for one single video can be tedious and outright exhausting. So why not go to a one stop shop for those achievements?
Xbox360Achievements.org is THE place to find guides made by players, like yourself, on where to find all the feathers in Assassin's Creed 2, how to quad-kill people within 4 seconds on Halo 3, and also how to watch the entire opening cinematic of Soul Calibur 4 (yup, that one's real).
Use their search to look up the game in question, find their official Achievement Guide if available, and if it's not there don't worry - just head over onto their forums and regardless of title there WILL be a full guide and roadmap on just how to nab every single point in that game. I've been using it for years and it's never let me down once. You can keep track of each of your achievements with built in check lists next to the guides, which also feature embedded Youtube videos, provide colorful maps, and detailed instructions on what each achievements asks of you.
People will argue that gamerscore has ruined a lot of the purity in gaming, but I'd like to argue that, although I don't care much for having a high gamerscore, I do go out of my way to find hidden items and complete extra side missions just for the points, and that I don't do it to show off or compare my score to someone else's, but rather for the extra layer of gaming that I wouldn't have gone through, otherwise, if it weren't an unlockable achievement. (Whew, lots of commas in that sentence.)
