4chan creator working on a new project

If you don’t know about 4chan then you know jack about the internet. It can be quite a doozy to explain, so rather than try to say it through words it’d be best if you just went there - 4chan.org.

Anywho, the site’s founder and current administrator, Christopher Poole, otherwise known as moot, recently spoke at a TED conference on how the infamous site came about, as well as flaunt its 7 million unique visitors a month. Needless to say, it’s hit, however, has yet to make him any real money. Well, that all may change as he’s just come up with a large lump sum of cash, over half a million to be exact, in a new super secret start-up company that could possibly become the next 4chan; or 4chan 2 if you’re into sequels.

We’ve learned from a number of blogs that earlier in the year Chris acquired somewhere in the $625K mark and that he’s been using the funds to work on a new site - one that would be like 4chan, but only if it were do have been made in the modern age. And there are some reports saying that the new site is Canv.as, which is registered to Poole, and there’s even been a leaked screenshot of “Canvas”, but that’s all we know so far.

His thoughts on the new venture:

“I’m working on a new project to reimagine what an image board should be today using the current technologies available…

… [4chan’s] code is a decade old, the foundation is really rickety and the layout is old. So imagine if you were to start 4chan today, what would it look like, how would it work with a modern browser. It’s kind of like a reboot, but it will be something separate to 4chan.”

    - Christopher “moot” Poole, 4chan Founder

A very interesting idea indeed, and one we’re sure that WILL earn him enough of the green stuff that he deserves, because God only knows how many hours of my life have been spent F5’ing on there.
