Exploding iPhones! - Apple looking into the reports

Apple is investigating media reports that one or more of the company's iPhones have exploded in Europe, a European Commission spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Yes, a few iPhones have exploded, but we shouldn't be scared of having an iPhone in our pocket... Right? What is the cause?
Apple said it knew about the media reports, which includes a teenager in France who said he was slightly injured when his iPhone made a weird noise and shattered. I dont think he would buy another iPhone again!
Apple have come back to us ... and what they've said to us is that they consider these are isolated incidents. They don't consider that there's a general problem.
They're trying to get more information on the specific details of those incidents (reported in the media) and they will do tests as necessary to investigate the possible cause.
Helen Kearns told a news briefing.
But a spokesman for Apple Europe Ltd. said:
We are aware of these (media) reports and we are waiting to receive the iPhones from the customers. Until we have the full details, we don't have anything further to add.
Final Fantasy XIV (14) Gameplay

Woah, that looks pretty!
We've really been handing it to gaming these past few days. Lots of stories. Hey, what can I say? I'm a video game guru and it's what I love! But y'know what genre I never really got into? MMORPG's. I've always wanted to play one, but I just never could pick one that was suited for me. Though, I still remember playing Diablo 2 on an ol' piece of crap PC about 6 years ago while still connecting to Dial Up. Oh God, the horrible memories.
Anyway, how'd you enjoy first video of gameplay within Final Fantasy XIV? I know one thing for sure... it's going to be my first real attempt at playing an MMO. Oh no, watch out!

Gotta love how it tells you the weather.

Doctor says Certain Gaming good for your health

Gaming is... good for you? I love the fact that so-called "experts" go back and forth on whether or not video games hurt you or help you. But then again that's usually when violent shooters like Gears or GTA are on the table. But what about games like Peggle and Bejeweled?
For Gail Nichols it became the help she needed to help her through her depression. Being diagnosed for years, she seldom found joy in anything - that was until she discovered the addictive and fun game, Bejeweled. After Nichols contacted the game's creator to tell them how much it helped her, PopCap - the game's developer - they decided to research the effects people were having while playing their game. The results were a bit surprising.
Carmen Russoniello, the man in charge running the research for PopCap, says that certain games help people relax from a stress filled day, by allowing the brain to 'gear down.' He thinks that western society is always alert and full of energy, even after a day of activities. Because of those high's it's hard for us to just shut off - the brain needs some activity to help cool it down to the necessary relaxed state it needs to truly be stress free.
PopCap is continuing its research into the mental benefits their games can help with.

PS3 Slim @ $299 - Sony not dead but no backwards compatibility

Well, that's it. Nintendo and Microsoft are finished - or so Sony wants people to think with a new SKU(stock keeping unit), new price points, and additions to the PS3 firmware (3.0) announced earlier today.
- Old PS3 "fat" units will be priced from $299 to $399 depending on HDD size and on stores
- PS3 3.0 Firmware coming Sept. 1st ( new XMB functionality)
- New PS3 Slim features: 33 percent smaller - 36 percent lighter, 120 gb drive, & sports the new 3.0 firmware, @ $299 starting first week of September
Sony shouts that they are far from down and out. Although, you have to admit, since their launch they've feverishly been playing catch up with the other two players. Anyone could see this as a desperation move for their failing system. The Wii's sales were starting to slow down, but then here came Wii Sports Resort to boost sales back up. Don't forget New Super Mario Bros. Wii is on its way sometime in November; a perfect opportunity for Nintendo to regain the casual and children's market in the holiday season. As for the Xbox? Well, no real big exclusives are making their way around this year like a Gears of Wars, but we are getting Halo: ODST, Forza 3, and Left 4 Dead 2 - enough for you? As well, as big titles like Modern Warfare 2 which will nab up more 360 players than PS3 owners.
So was this Sony's last chance to sell off consoles? I do remember Sony saying the PS3 system was "a 10 year console". Hate to say it, but we're already into 3 years of that lifespan and the unanimous thought is that the PS3 is dead last in the console war. I hardly touch the Wii, but my PS3? I hadn't played it for so long I actually packed it up and put it away in to my closet. Maybe I'll give it another try when Demon's Soul comes out. Oh, and if anyone is generous enough, I wouldn't mind a copy of Infamous to review!

No surprise here. Sony confirms there will be no backwards compatibility in the newest iteration of the PS3.
"Now that we're at a point where we're three years into the lifecycle of the PS3, there are so many PS3 disc-based games that are available that we think — and noticed this from our research — that most consumers that are purchasing the PS3 cite PS3 games as a primary [reason]...
"And it's not just like 50 or 60 percent. It's well into the 80 or 90 percentile range who are purchasing it for PS3 [games]. We do know that there are next gen consumers wanting to come over the the PS3. Most of those are consumers who have not utilized their PS2 for a little while and they're ready to jump into the PlayStation 3."

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Trailer

Activision (the publishers of Call of Duty just in case you didn't know) have released a trailer showing multiplayer gameplay. The trailer also shows customized kill streaks, sticky grenades and lots of new weapons.
As you can see from the video above the games multiplayer is a whole lot different from the first Modern Warfare game. Even though the game looks amazing I personally don't think many people are going to buy the game the reason for that is because Activision have raised the price of it from £39.99 to £54.99.
