Android Froyo coming to EVO 4G Sooner than Later?

In a move that is certainly welcomed by EVO 4G owners throughout the country - Sprint looks to put the bring Android 2.2 to it’s latest superphone in record time. According to a Sprint Employee:

As work on finalizing the software is under way, Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future. It also will be available as an upgrade on the recently launched HTC EVO 4G.

With the Android 2.2 upgrade, customers can expect improvements to include the following benefits: updates to user interface, improved EAS Support, improved browser performance, including Flash 10x Support, voice dialing over Bluetooth and application storage on external memory.

Could this be directly in response to Verizon’s launch of the Droid X? According to Engadget, The Droid is poised to get it’s helping of Froyo in July while the new Droid X looks ready to get it’s bowl in August. This could be the reason decided to announce Android 2.2 without a firm launch date. Now for your Hero and Moment users, a Sprint Employee on the same forum did confirm Froyo will NOT be coming to your forms.
