AT&T Announces they are Re-branding
Yes, AT&T is planning a very expensive re-branding - and all of us know this is their last ditch attempt to revive any customer loyalty that is left in the big poopy mess that is all over the mobile market. Their eyes still stinging from the hit taken by peeved off costumers, and Verizon attack ads, AT&T is making a final stand. Again…
It’s reported that AT&T, spent $1.87 billion on marketing and advertising last year, which makes it no surprise why their one of the country’s five biggest advertisers.
AT&T’s senior vice president for brand marketing and advertising, Esther Lee, says that “All of our communications across all of these channels is ‘Rethink Possible’ and this integration of design,” which poses the message that “Anything is possible when you are an AT&T costumer”, but is that really a feasible concept when so many people hate your company?
There is some really good news though, the Luke Wilson ads will be gone, so we have to give +1 internets to AT&T for that alone. On the flip side, I dont think a logo change and a mix of new colors will make anyone want to be on AT&T, let alone switch from Verizon.
A word of advice to AT&T
If you notice that people are complaining about the very expensive service you offer, try looking into the problem. It may be time to actually improve the service instead of making it sound better. Its like painting over a rotten wood floor - Sure no-one will know it’s rotten anymore but as soon as they step on it, they will see the dirt on their socks, and then after a while soon the floor will break, and you will have some explaining to do.
If you get down and dirty to the root of the problem and fix it (thats what we pay you to do), you won’t have to spend bundles of money re-branding. That cash can be used to fix your crappy service! For all you AT&T costumers, don’t expect anything other than a new logo, and a shiny new wrapper. It wont be new, it wont be fresh, its going to be the exact same, and yes its going to suck (unless AT&T read this post).
