Blizzard Unveils the Awesome Contents of Starcraft 2's Collector's Edition
Blizzard has simply outdone itself - While many of you had your eyes on the Iphone event, Blizzard has quietly revealed that there will be a Collector’s Edition for Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. We all know that Blizzard has added in some very cool goodies in all of their Collector’s Editions to date but this one definitely takes the cake.
Find out the contents after the break!
The Collector’s Edition will come in a shiny and quite large box (pictured above) for around $100. What will you get for all that cash? Well, the Collector’s Edition contains:
- The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
- An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor’s dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set
- A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director’s commentary, and more
- The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks
- StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series
- A World of Warcraft mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account
- Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit
Wow, now that is a lot of love from Blizzard, it’s pretty awesome that you’ll be getting the original game and expansion as well along with all the other stuff. Being a fairly dedicated World of Warcraft player, I know that many people will buy the game just for the in game version of the Thor which, for those of you who don’t know, is basically Arnold Schwarzenegger in a giant mech suit, which instantly makes this entire package an instant buy in my books!
It’s a pretty bold move to price a Collector’s Edition at $100, but it seems to be worth the investment in my books. What about you?
Blizzard also said that they would be announcing the official release date for the game “in the coming weeks” so stay tuned to find out when Blizzard will be adding another truckload of money to their pockets!
